Inspire with Harry Potter

Help me give my students copies of the first Harry Potter book so that they can be exposed to a quality piece of literature that might inspire them to read more.

My Students

Our school district has always tried to be a leader in the world of education. We were some of the first to adopt a one-to-one plan, putting iPads in the hands of all our students in hopes they would each have individualized learning and challenges that met their needs. In our district, we don't allow income status to be a barrier for student learning, we do all we can to balance the scales and ensure that every child receives a quality education.

My students are artistic, creative, and hardworking.

They are eager to learn and work together to tackle problems and projects. My students inspire me to be the most effective teacher I can be, but materials are not always in great supply.

My Project

I have tried to foster a love for reading in my classroom through the use of a carpet and futon reading areas, exciting reading lessons, quality books, and projects. One of the things I notice that most inspires my students to read is the excitement they get reading a quality novel as a class. When we get to that part in our day, where they can read with me from a novel that is at or above their grade level there is an excitement and anticipatory feeling in the room. The books I am requesting will inspire a love for books.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone will give my students the chance to experience a quality piece of literature and show them how reading can take them to places they have never dreamed.

It will give us the chance to discuss important literary elements and hold meaningful discussions on a work that isn't read to completion in one day.
