My Students

I have the privilege of teaching the most genuine young men and women I have ever known. These are some of the best people I have ever met and I am so proud of who they are all becoming. The majority of my students are college-bound seniors who are engaged in school, but oftentimes, are not challenged enough. That's where I come in. I push my kids with college-level material and projects. They are always up to the challenge. These students seem to come alive when literature is read, but we simply don't have enough resources at our school to expose them to life-changing readings.

My Project

A child's love of reading comes from their active participation with the book and research shows that one of the most important ways in which students can engage in their reading is through the use of personalized reading journals.

These reading journals, given as gifts to the students to use and make their own, will be used throughout the year to inspire and engage their reading.

I will provide students nightly reading log assignments, personalized and fun prompts that will ask the students to think about how their reading applies to their own lives. Students will log and keep these journals to hopefully inspire a lifelong love of reading!
