This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students in my special education classroom from 2nd-5th grade are obsessed with graphic novels with relatable characters, plus with stories about fantasy and comedy. These books were chosen by my students and myself as we brainstormed the most wanted books to read this fall. Books including Dogman, Wings of Fire and others will inspire students to read at their level and to increase their fascination with reading! There is also a book to encourage reading in Spanish and English in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Your gift will inspire their appetite for reading and writing with illustrated books for excellent students, graphic novels and books for students with disabilities that will ultimately help increase student engagement in reading and writing.

When I give the choice for students to read chapter books or graphic novels, after working on their writing skills and reading informational text work, they get so excited to read engaging stories. Help make our library more inviting and exciting for students in grades 2-5 who receive special education services.
