Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students belong to a low-income/high-poverty school district. Most of my students come from a diverse community. We serve students from all over Asia, Africa, Central and South America, and Mexico. Many of our students live far away from our school but take long journeys to come because they were made aware that we offer unique project-based instructions. We are a Title I school and most of our students receive free lunches.
Despite the challenging conditions many of our students face, they show good attendance, are eager to learn, and appreciate America as their new homeland.
Some of our students have learning and/or emotional disabilities. Despite the conditions our students live in, they show great attendance and are eager to learn. In addition, their parents work really hard to contribute to our economy.
I teach at a Title I performance improvement school with the majority of our students participating in the free lunch program. For many of my students, school is where they have access to books, supplies, and other resources that support their academic achievements. Many of my students come from homes where their parents are working hard to make ends meet.
My Project
Our kids have gone through lots of trauma since the beginning of the pandemic. Some of them lost their loved ones. Nevertheless, they all come to school every day and are eager to learn. For this reason, I want my students to be actively involved in all Holidays by creating a showcase on the campus of our school to inspire the whole school community to believe in the future.
The supplies, I am asking for would help my students to create each American Holiday to express their gratitude for being in school every day.
