Students walk into my classroom, excitedly waiting for what we are going to learn about, but one problem...the watercolors that we have are old, with the blue for sky gone and the green for grass gone. So, I have to decide to either purchase what is needed from my own budget or change the project.
The students I teach love art!
I teach inner city students in a Pre-K - 8th grades, who don't have the opportunity that many other students have during their grade school years. My students are fantastic kids and are always enthusiastic about art and especially making various projects. They are very talented and love to create, but we need supplies.
My Project
My students will be able to do projects with the various art projects with these supplies that we would not otherwise get to do. My students need watercolor refills for an impressionism project. We need the decorative paper to make Picasso collages, and we need the clay to make a Pop Art project. These projects give students opportunities to use expression and to critically think through projects using different mediums. If this project gets funded, my students will have the opportunity to create what inspires them.
I want to give to my students a wide variety of experiences with different mediums as possible and to encourage their creativity.
By funding this project, my students will be able to be creative with projects that will enhance higher order thinking skills. Art is problem solving and creating, which will serve students as they move through their young lives.
