Inspire Future College Students With a College Tour
Help me give my students a tour to U.C. Davis and Sacramento State. Many of my students have never seen a college campus firsthand and we want them to be excited about college!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in our AVID and CollegeBound programs come from diverse backgrounds, are from immigrant families, or are the first in their families to go to college, so they really are inspired when they can see a college campus firsthand. One of my former students who came from an immigrant family visited UC Santa Cruz on a field trip with us, and she was so inspired that she applied, was accepted and graduated from UC Santa Cruz! She became a Berkeley EAOP/DCAC College Advisor and returned to work at our school helping other students successfully apply to college and receive scholarships. Receiving funding to pay for a bus would help us take the students on a day trip to tour UC Davis and Sacramento State.
My Project
Many students in the CollegeBound program have never visited a college campus. When they are able to take a tour, eat in the cafeteria, and walk into the gym and bookstore, it helps them visualize what it would be like to be a college student on that campus. Many of my former students say that going on the field trips was what inspired them to apply to their future college.
On the college tours, students get to explore the entire campus with a student tour guide, who presents the campus to them and answers their questions about majors, financial aid, activities on campus, and what makes the campus unique.
It is truly an inspiring experience for our students!
