Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom closed up on Friday, March 13th. We were given less than 24 hours' notice to prepare to send students home with 2 weeks worth of classwork. A couple of weeks later, we were able to send home additional materials and school iPads.
My Kindergarteners have been distance learning rock stars for 6 weeks now.
They are persevering with workbooks, journals, and school supplies that I sent home. They bring never-ending enthusiasm Monday through Thursday via Zoom meetings. Plus, they have access to learning apps and I am now a Seesaw Pioneer!
My Project
When students are in school, they have easy access to all sorts of paper for drawing and writing! Teachers provide paper, photocopies, and journals in the classroom, but what happens when the students are suddenly at home? Many families do not have a supply of writing materials for little ones.
Every Kindergartener loves to express ideas through drawing!
The next step is labeling their pictures with single words. As they gain confidence, they use sight words and phonetic spelling to write complete sentences about everything they know and love about the world!
