Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am privileged to teach six and seven-year-olds in my ESL/first grade classroom. Our district is a low income/high diversity school district, 98% percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. I want to be able to provide them with the opportunity to learn in a stress-free environment. Many of my students have only one parent working or no parents working due to the dwindling economy. Some of our families have arrived from other countries understanding very little English. We were virtual last year due to COVID-19, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom during these times of change. I want to boost their social well-being and wellness!
My Project
50% 0f my students have asthma, having a classroom air purifier will help clean the air and slow down the spread of covid. I need my students healthy and in school ready to learn. Promoting (PBIS) positive behavior where students are being encouraged to make good choices such as wearing a mask all day, staying 3 feet apart, wiping down their desks and washing their hands can be a challenge in first grade. Rewarding students with Amazon cards and goodies makes learning fun. Keeping a healthy stress free environment is my goal this year.
Motivation makes everyone happy and on target for caring about themselves and others.
