Inspiration & Encouragement for All

Help me give my students a Social Emotional Learning Space in their daily life. As they connect as a community of learners, they need the encouragement and inspiration to remember that hopelessness has "hope" in it.

My Project

The students in my classroom are truly amazing. Each day at the end of the day I reflect on how they are engaged, motivated, and eager to learn. After Covid, there was a drive in our student population to dive in and reestablish learning and they were timid about being with one another in a social setting. These are social cues and skills that my third graders are gradually developing to this day.

The items on our class list are to improve their social interactions.

The yoga mats and cushions are for community group learning and even our Choose Love, SEL program, 3-minute meditations to refocus for the day ahead. The defuser comes into play here as a calming relief for their busy minds through the aromas. The desks are for the team-up & dream-up groups when they are pulled together to research or analyze a topic to expand up for learning.

The inspirational items such as pencils and stickers are just that - "inspiration reminders". I witness 9-year-olds struggle at times with the belief in themselves. These pivotal years take genuine inspirational words to assist to guide them through. Simply looking at a pencil that they were given in a moment of struggle can provide the reminder that helps them complete their homework and build their learning with support. Lastly, the privacy desk folders, calming dice, and journals are for their individual selves. The idea is they would take a cushion or foldable desk to a quiet spot to journal and roll the dice to reflect.

This year our school is focusing on reflecting to move forward. The staff encourages our students to reflect on their learning, social situations, and overall day. We request your support in helping them to be inspired.
