I teach in a classroom filled with creative, inspired, thoughtful third and fourth graders. I work in a small school with an incredible sense of community. With fewer than 60 students per grade level and a population in which approximately 70% of the students have been at the school since kindergarten, the majority of my students have been in class with the same classmates over the past several years. This makes for a strong sense of community, belonging, familiarity and support.
I feel lucky to work with this great community of children and feel blessed to be in a profession that I enjoy so much.
I have a wide variety of learners with a diverse range of abilities and interests. My students also have a variety of backgrounds and levels of English proficiency. Meeting the needs of a diverse group of students is a challenge that I embrace. Finding ways to engage, inspire and motivate them are parts of my job that I love.
My Project
The walls of a classroom can inspire students in their thinking and learning. Images, maps, and bulletin board messages are all useful tools in stimulating class discussions, student writing, and connections to global perspectives.
With multiple inspiring bulletin boards from Teachers Pay Teachers to a variety of travel magnets from around the world, my students will be able to look to our classroom walls to strengthen classroom discourse while simultaneously encouraging global perspectives.
Creating an engaging, inspiring classroom environment has always been one of my goals as a teacher. Items from this project will help me do just that!
