Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our elementary library is seeking funding to expand our collection of Spanish-language biographies, ensuring that our students have access to engaging, high-quality books that reflect their cultures and inspire their futures. As a school serving primarily Hispanic and Black students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, it is crucial that our library provides materials that affirm students' identities and introduce them to influential figures who have shaped history.

By incorporating Spanish-language biographies of leaders in science, the arts, civil rights, and literature, we aim to foster a love of reading while also supporting bilingual literacy and cultural pride.

These books will not only enhance independent reading but also serve as valuable resources for classroom instruction, allowing teachers to integrate diverse voices into their lessons. With this grant, we can empower our students with the stories of trailblazers who mirror their own experiences, reinforcing the belief that they, too, can achieve greatness.
