Inquiring Minds Want to Play

My students need these Lakeshore ramps and balls to play as they learn. The Let's Find Out magazine is another great resource to engage students.

My Students

My students are 4 and 5 years old. Students may have attended our program as a 3 year old. This is a first school experience for many of my children this year. Students come from diverse financial, economic, and cultural backgrounds.

Curiosity, enthusiasm, and eagerness abound with this age range.

My students are excited to learn the how and why of the world around them. They can do this best by experimenting with many types of toys and tools. We view our classroom as a learning laboratory.

My Project

Research shows that students learn best through play. I am excited for my students to receive these toys. Magnatiles will promote socialization as well as critical thinking in the tub toy area. The ramps and balls will encourage trial and error building in the block center. The Let's Find Out magazines will engage both students and their parents. I have found these magazines to be very useful in creating a culture of questioning in my classroom.

Critical thinking as well as trial and error are keystone components of young children's play.

The requested materials will be used to lead students in questioning how the world around them works.
