Help me give my students a chance to learn on the innovative systems of the future. Apple is one of the largest operating systems and most of my low income students have never used an Apple iPad product.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Kindergarten is a fundamental introduction to education. Through the last year and a half, the Las Vegas economy was hit hard with tourism becoming extinct. 90% of the students in my classroom qualify for free lunch and weekend food aid. Our families have truly struggled through this pandemic to make our students' education a priority when they are fighting poverty. I am so thankful that we are able to provide the resources for students to excel in and out of the classroom.
Ms.R's kindergarten class is #Vegasstrong!
These students are actively striving to become engaged learners. These little ones have spent most of their young lives in a quarantine world but they are doing everything possible to take advantage of the time they have lost. We spend a lot of time working on social-emotional awareness to make up for all of the face-to-face time they missed out on. Help us create our leaders of tomorrow!
My Project
I am requesting an Apple iPad. Many of my students have never used an Apple product but most of our state testing for Kindergarten is given through apps on the iPad.
My students struggle to understand how these new interfaces are used.
We also share a set of iPads with kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. I have donated my personal iPad to my classroom for students so a second iPad would allow me to have two students at a time use these educational apps.
Giving our low income students the same kind of access to different operating systems is yet another way to level the playing field of income inequality in education. They will practice and understand how to manipulate and effectively use these operating systems in testing and everyday life situations.
