My students need a projector and a screen for display of science lessons with which they can interact and by which they can be engaged.

My Students
The availability of technology to students at various schools is uneven. Some students receive multimedia driven lessons, while my future students are left with little. Help middle school students be engaged, and awed by science.
My students next year are from a high performing middle school.
My current middle school receives approximately $1700 more in per pupil funding than the school at which I will be teaching in the fall. My current students receive a highly engaging experience in my classroom through the use of technology. The students with which I currently work are amazing and enjoy their science classes greatly. They are engaged by, wowed by, and interact with science daily.
My Project
Imagine a classroom in which students are able to grab and manipulate each planet, our entire Solar System, and even the Milky Way galaxy all using a Wii Remote controller integrated into a computer. This is one of many activities my students perform this year through the use of a SMARTboard. My students next year deserve the same level of technology and the integration of a Wii Remote attached to a computer via Bluetooth along with a standard projector screen provides an interactive student experience at a fraction of the cost.
Every day technology is used to engage and instruct my students. Lessons ranging from organs and organ systems, to covalent compounds, to gravity's role in shaping the universe are all experienced using intensive multimedia. My students next year deserve that same level of instruction every day.
This will not be a technological oddity, it is something integrated into my daily instruction and I know all students deserve that same level of learning.
Asking 7th and 8th graders to learn about modern science without modern technology is a recipe for limited success.
My students, all students, deserve high levels of success and this allows my students next year to receive the same high quality science education as my students this year.
