My Students

Do you remember growing up with a lack of technology? The wonderful world we live in today gives so much more insight to the future. An Apple TV would give me wireless connection between my iPad and my classrooms projector, allowing me to effectively use the iPad as an instructional tool.

My students are amazing!!

They are young individuals looking for a way out of poverty and into a much more livable way of life. They attend a Title I school in a neighborhood where they do not always feel safe at night. Each day when they come to school their little eyes light up at the wonderful new world they are being introduced to. We have introduced them to so many innovative creations, and they are becoming life-long learners. Their goals and dreams are bigger than we can ever imagine, and allowing them an opportunity to work with a variety of technology will help them get to the place they are striving to get to.

My Project

The iPad cannot solely serve as an instructional tool for whole class instruction. The only way to use this item without any further extensions would be to stand tethered to the projector, which would have me blocking my students' view of the board. It would not allow for effective instruction. An Apple TV receiver is the enhancement needed in order to have the wireless connection between my iPad and projector, allowing me to interact with my students while I use the iPad to teach a lesson. Multimedia instruction is the leeway to the future of teaching. The iPad provides a plethora of teaching apps and presentation abilities, not to mention, easy access to Internet resources. The Apple TV will allow me to unlock the iPad's true potential as a teaching tool. This form of technology would bring forth the STEM areas so that students get a wide variety of learning styles and techniques.

This project is so important because I truly LOVE my students and believe they deserve a chance to see what the world has to offer them.

Many of them come from homes where parents are immigrants and do not speak English, and for them to be able to help their family will be an AWESOME experience.
