My Students
My elementary school services K-5 students in Philadelphia. The families and neighbors here are close and supportive. Unfortunately, the student population is 100% economically disadvantaged.
We are very proud of our school community.
We are a community of diverse students dedicated to becoming lifelong learners and productive citizens. All of the students here follow the 3 Rs which represent our core beliefs. The students are Respectful, Responsible and Ready.

My Project
My students need opportunities to work in STEM. Communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking are key skills that all learners need to develop. In order to prepare my students for the modern world, they need to be exposed to emerging technology. My school needs an Innovation Lab to give the students real experience with essential technology that they otherwise would not have. My learners are eager and driven and our families are motivated and involved in their learning process. Our students just need the opportunity.
The Innovation Lab will allow students to explore essential technology such as 3D printing, drones, robotics, coding, augmented reality, and virtual field trips with our Google Expedition kit!
While learning remotely, students will make use of these resources. Classes will take virtual field trips on their Chromebooks. They will take those navigation skills and apply them to the Virtual Reality Google Expedition kits upon return to the classroom. Students will code with Blockley from home and use that coding knowledge with the Innovation Lab's Dash Robots and Tello Drones. My classes will also be creating 3D designs from home. Their designs will be shared in Google Classroom, printed on the new Flashforge 3D printers and mailed to them.
When school resumes in person, an innovation lab would afford students from all grade levels the opportunity to visit our library and use the technology. Classroom teachers will be able to schedule time to visit the innovation lab or to check out the STEM resources on a mobile cart. My students need opportunities to develop their skills in communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. We will reach every student with a new innovation lab and we could not be more excited and thankful for the opportunity!
