My students have to overcome learning disabilities and some must learn the English language and required school concepts with little or no help from their parents. Their parents are unable to help them in the educational area due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of the English language as well as a lack of knowledge of these science concepts.
My students work hard and often support their mothers and fathers by running household errands and watching younger siblings.
Unfortunately, another thing that my students have in common is that their families are struggling financially.
Within my school the majority of the students qualify for the state's free or reduced priced meal program. Due to the budget cuts schools are facing, teachers in my school are no longer able to personally give each student the resources they desire.
Supplying my students with this material would be a small step, but it would give my students one less obstacle to overcome on their own.
My Project
I am requesting a document camera for the classroom. Over the past few years class size has exploded and this tool will help provide a way that everyone can see the lesson. This smart camera provides a complete audio/video learning solution to reach many types of learning needs. The selected camera software enables the teacher to record movies, recognize saved images, and allows for file playback of student or teacher presentations. All the features will aid in the development of all my students and help us meet the Science Common Core demands.
A document camera is a tool that I know will be effective for teaching the new Common Core curriculum.
