Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the sound of the teacher's voice in the Charlie Brown movies? Please help ensure that I am not that boring teacher by helping me provide meaningful and engaging lessons through an Apple iPad.
In my homeroom, I have 16 students.
Four of them are ESE, one is ELL, and two are speech and language. Fourteen of my 16 students qualify for free and reduced lunch. In my math class, 17 out of my 17 students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Five of the 17 students are ESE, and 14 of the 17 students are ELL. The intervention group that I teach during the day is composed third graders who are in the bottom 30%.
My Project
With the Apple iPad, I will be able to purchase a software that will allow me to project what is on my teacher computer through my iPad and onto the big projector. There is an endless amount of interactive resources online that would engage students and enhance instruction. With the iPad, I would be able to access the smartboard and the iPad would act as a mini interactive whiteboard. With the iPad, students will be able to play reading comprehension games on the big screen as well as they will be able to show their work to math multiplication, division, addition and subtraction problems. We will be able to go back into the story and highlight where we found our answer on the big screen, and show our smart 7 strategies.
This technology will help a generation of students who have grownup in a world of technology.
If they feel like they are playing a video game or get to use technology, they seem to be more motivated and engaged. With this technology, student involvement will increase and in turn, academic gains will be made.
