Inner City School Exploration of Algebra

Help me give my students the ability to enrich their skills in Algebra in preparation for middle school. Students will receive daily Algebra Small Group Instruction to assist with strengthening their understanding of Mathematical Computation.

My Students

According to the recent School Report Card provided by Chicago Public Schools, 98% of the students at my school receive Free/Reduced Priced Lunch and reside in low-income households. Students are working hard to improve Literacy test scores. Students are tested in areas of Vocabulary and Comprehension. There are several interventions that students participate in to enrich their reading skills such as Small Groups and Saturday School.

My students love to read and learn new information.

They utilize all resources that are given to them with appreciation and gratitude.

My Project

Currently, students receive Small Group Instruction in geometry and measurement. The benefits of Small Group Instruction are evident in students' daily performance and standardized test scores. The donations will assist in ensuring that my students are receiving Common Core material reflective of Pre-Algebra/Algebra. The mathematics skills will be taught during daily small group instruction in the classroom. The resource books and manipulatives requested will be used to supply students with a rigorous and relevant mathematics experience. The exposure of Algebra will provide students with additional support needed to continue to strive as scholars.

The support will be used to enrich their studies and prepare them for Middle School Mathematics.
