This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Barging in through our classroom door are 25 smiling Kindergarten students. Our classroom is known to be a bustling beehive of activity! We are constantly using all sorts of materials to keep our high energies engaged. Each year is a set of new challenges and of course the BEST rewards!
We can't wait to begin our year on a high note!
Our school is located in a high needs, urban area. But that doesn't stop us! Each year we push for more technology and parent engagement to keep up with the best of the best of schools. This year, our classroom will have over 15 students who went to Pre-K and 10 students who are English Language Learners. Talk about diverse!
One of our class' favorite ways to learn is small group work. It gives the students a chance to move about the room freely and talk openly about the projects we are working on. Our reading and writing curriculum will now integrate Social Studies on a regular basis, and we can't wait to see what projects Mrs. Gruffi comes up with to get our minds movin' and groovin'!
My Project
Our classroom printer is the lifeline to all of the work we complete in the classroom. Each year we utilize it for almost each of Mrs. Gruffi's lessons. One of the best features of having a classroom printer is being able to make a quick copy of a classroom chart and passing it out at the tables so that EACH student can have access to the information.
Mrs. Gruffi also loves to use interactive notebooks for Poetry, Math, and Writing. The classroom printer helps Mrs. Gruffi print out the resources we need to add to these notebooks. Our Poetry Notebooks are always the classroom favorite. We sing and read poems about various themes, add it to our notebooks, and then they become our own personal classroom textbook!
The students love to go into their desks and grab their Poetry Notebooks whenever they finish their work and want to read. Imagine a Kindergartener's feeling of accomplishment being able to read an entire notebook of poems!
Toner for the printer is like water to a plant.
It will help our classroom grow and bloom into beautiful flowers! The toner will help Mrs. Gruffi print out many of the materials we need for daily use, differentiation, and small group instruction. The students will have resources to use throughout the rest of the year! Providing the toner will provide the water for our Kindergarten flowers to bloom!
