Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach students who are learning English as a second language and some who have mild learning disabilities. To say the least, the students voiced their lack of interest in learning Science, often stating that the concepts and skills are very difficult.
In an effort to increase student achievement and motivation, I created an interactive science notebook, which students can use as a learning aid and study guide to help them prepare for state and district standardized testing.
Most importantly, these students learn how to take notes, keep themselves organized, and have fun while learning.
I'm requesting black and color ink cartridges, scissors, glue, white and color copy paper, a pencil sharpener, and a paper cutter and composition books to assist with printing worksheets for the students to take notes. The glue, scissors, colored pencils, and sharpener will assist the students with placing their interactive notes in their notebook and color code important information.
My Project
I teach over 180 students who are learning English as a second language or have mild learning disabilities and are required to take the standardized Science test. These students create notebooks which are used as a teaching, learning, and study tool to aid the students with difficult science concepts and skills. The printed materials are placed in the students’ interactive notebook for them to work on the most difficult benchmarks standards, which will be tested. The students need black and color ink cartridges, scissors, glue, white and color copy paper, a pencil sharpener, and a paper cutter and composition books to accomplish the goals of this project.
