Ink in a Blink to Help Us Think!

Help me give my students ink for our printer so we they create custom crafts, worksheets, and games to help them achieve their occupational therapy goals.

My Project

My students receive Occupational Therapy (OT) to cultivate the skills they need to participate fully in their school settings. OT encourages them to build on their strengths and overcome difficulties related to fine-motor, visual-motor, sensory, self-care and organization skills. They participate in fun and challenging writing activities that help them improve their penmanship and pencil grasp. They engage in craft activities that incorporate classroom tool use, such as scissors and glue. They complete worksheets and gross-motor exercises that address their developmental visual skills. These therapy activities build their confidence and abilities, while bringing a joy for classroom learning.

With a large variety of ink, my students can have access to and choose customized worksheets that meet their precise preferences, including characters and themes they love.

Handwriting, word puzzles and visual-motor worksheets can be chosen collaboratively by students and therapist together, based on topics and themes the students prefer. They can be printed in real time, allowing students to see that their choices were seen and heard. They can work on these activities with the support of their occupational therapist. When completed, they can also photocopy the work they are so proud of, to take home and show their family and friends. This personalized and child-led approach will allow the students to share their passions and ideas, build upon their interests, and thereby improve their motivation to attempt activities that they may otherwise see as too challenging for them.

When children are allowed to make these proactive choices during their sessions, they develop creativity and problem-solve. Success is then a natural byproduct.
