My Project
After my original classroom printer died this year, I was lucky to have a second-hand printer donated to replace it. I have been able to print colored pictures to help my English Language Learners with vocabulary, alphabet sound-spelling cards to help students struggling with letter names and sound correspondence, and math & reading games for my students to interact with during small group workstation time.
Unfortunately, the ink is running low, and replacement cartridges are very expensive.
For that reason, I am creating this Donors Choose project.
Your donations will help me get replacement toner cartridges for our classroom printer so I can print real-world colored photos for my students. This year, I am helping a first-grader who just moved to the United States learn the alphabet. One activity we do is a matching game with real-life photos that correspond to a letter. The hands-on manipulation of each picture to its corresponding letter is really helping her learn about letter names and sounds. She has mastered the mango, mermaid, map (Mm), ambulance, apple, astronaut (Aa), and sun, snowman, star (Ss).
In addition, after attending an English Language Learner workshop earlier this year, I learned about the importance of real-life pictures to help EL learners. I wanted to create a vocabulary system I learned about where students can interact with pictures associated with their vocabulary words and their definitions. This way, students can see a real-world photo to help them solidify the meaning of new vocabulary words. In order to do this, I will need to replace the ink toner cartridges to print the vocabulary pictures in color.
Thank you for donating to my project. Your donations will help my students have an ink-credible learning experience!
