Infrared Thermometers and Weather Kits for Science Experiments

Help me give my students supplies to participate in exciting hands-on science experiments with thermometers and weather science kits!

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. D'Agostini's classroom raised $998

My Students

I am the 6th grade science teacher and my students love doing experiments. COVID-19 has affected my students ability to participate in experiments. I have had to limit the type of experiments due to social distancing and not being able to share supplies. Many of the experiments that have given the students hands-on learning had to be changed to remote experiments due to COVID-19. My students have missed being able to collaborate in group projects and experiments.

My Project

Students learn best with hands-on experiments and COVID has limited the amount and type of science experiments the students can complete. These supplies provide the students with hands-on opportunities to create experiments and understand the concepts of heat transfer, weather, and chemistry.

These experiments will allow my students to collaborate in group projects.

COVID-19 has not allowed them to complete projects in groups or with partners. Many students are struggling with how to all actively participate and to all take turns in their projects. Many of their leaning experiences have been Zoom with using computer programs. These supplies will provide the students with opportunities to work in groups and create leadership opportunities.

The students are learning about heat transfer and the digital infrared thermometers will allow them to measure the amount of heat transfer between objects.

The students are also learning about weather patterns, climate, and global warming and need to have opportunities to create these weather systems. The weather kits will allow the students to visually understand how the weather cycle works and what happens when they manipulate aspects of the weather cycle.

The chemistry kits provide the students with the supplies to create physical models of atoms and molecules. The students need to be able to identify, draw, name, and write the formulas for atoms and molecules.
