Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our class was gifted one Citizen Kid book. This series allows my students to see themselves and their identities being discussed with colorful illustrations and descriptive narrative. After investigating further, my co-teacher and I fell in love with the series as well. Teaching our children that they are valued for their differences is so important to nurturing powerful learners. In our first read aloud of the school year, the students were so captivated with the story you could hear a pin drop. To be able to offer diverse learners opportunities to engage in different cultures will help our students realize that collaboration is an important part of becoming a global citizen.
