This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of musicians made up of all levels, from true beginners to those who are college ready. They are a Title 1 school with many students on free or reduced lunch.

My students enjoy a good challenge, and love to come up with new and creative ways of performing their art.

They are passionate about music and love to show that passion anywhere and everywhere! As a former member of this band myself, I take pride in seeing this group learn and grow year after year.

My Project

We are performing the piece "Industria" by N. Alan Clark and Miguel Castro for our Spring Concert. The students are excited about the piece, especially my Senior percussion players. However, when we started looking at the parts, we realized that there were a number of instruments we didn't have or we needed to double on.

With these additional percussion instruments, not only will we be able to perform this amazing work but we'll also be able to expand our percussion inventory.

These additional instruments can be used again and again over many years to the benefit of students current and future.
