Help me give my students an indoor urban garden! We have a small collection of seeds, but need a way to grow them indoors, so we can grow our own food!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
We will use the hydroponic grow system and shelves with grow lights to jump start our seeds. We plan to grow strawberries, tomatoes, herbs, cucumbers, zucchini, and other vegetables students enjoy so they have the opportunity to grow and cook their own food.
Fighting food insecurity by creating an indoor urban garden is a passion of mine!
My Life Skills students have learned about companion planting and outdoor gardening, but at our school we don't have the green space to grow an outdoor garden. An indoor garden will make gardening feasible and accessible for them.
This project will reach beyond my immediate students and enable students in future years to learn to grow their own food.
