At James Madison Elementary school we are working on having good community spirit and re pore. Our school has 76% free and reduced lunch and this is our first year in Turn around. We are working hard to improve student achievement and attendance.
I am working on helping my students find success in school and feel good about being in school.
I have about 50% English Language Learners as well as 3 students that have been in the United States for less than 2 years.
For the most part they have been together off and on together since kindergarten. I want to continue to cultivate that sense of community in our classroom this year. They want to work together and be around one another. We are going to learn how to build one another up and truly "Choose Kind" in our community.
The two words that every student and teacher dread are INDOOR RECESS! This year I do not have any hand-me-downs when it comes to games or puzzles. Our classroom is bare when it comes to board games and puzzles. Please help my students to interact positively with each other and help me to keep my sanity and those two words Indoor Recess won't be scary!
With these and other games students will be able to work together and build community.
They will be able to stay safe and through expectations learn how to be kind to one another as they play indoor games.
