Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first grade students are a true example of diversity.
All come with a unique story and background that encourages us to learn from one another, create a culture of acceptance, tolerance, and most importantly a profound sense of community.
My school is a true neighborhood school. Most students live within a few mile radius - most within walking distance. The neighborhood consists of many families of low socioeconomic status and all that that entails. We have an inherent sense of pride in how hard we work to help students achieve. Students truly enjoy coming to school where they feel loved, cared for, and feel successful every day.
My Project
It's that time of year when recess begins to happen indoors more frequently due to inclement weather conditions. The art supplies and building toys that we are hoping to get will allow students to get their creativity flowing in fun and engaging ways!

These varied art supplies and building toys are ones that we don't currently have access to in the classroom. While we are stuck indoors at times during the winter months, these supplies will allow my students to create beautiful artwork and creative structures!
