My students are an enthusiastic group of learners. They are a class of kindhearted first graders who work hard everyday and play hard too!
These first graders are at a pivotal time in their lives when they are navigating how to successfully work with a group of peers.
My students love science and math! They cheer whenever I pull out a new tool or manipulative that they haven't used before. They are eager to build, design, creative, invent, and explore. Their excitement for learning can not be contained.
It is amazing what first graders are able to do. These six and seven year olds spend hours reading books, writing multiple genres, and solving math stories. They must focus, listen, collaborate and share. It is hard work! We look forward to our brain breaks and recess time. Time to run around, breathe in fresh air, and play with friends, but sometimes in the spring the weather does not cooperate.
When the weather forces us to spend our recess time indoors, we need books and activities that allow us to create, play, design, and explore.
My first graders love building. They work together to come up with the most amazing structures. They can build with any tool. I know they will love using the requested STEM design set and the magnets and gears to create during indoor recess.
We also love to draw. My class is always creating amazing art, writing notes to each other, and drawing illustrations. We need a classpack of markers to make our drawings pop.
In first grade, we can't get enough time with books. During any break time, my first graders run to our nonfiction books shelves and love reading as much as they can about all kinds of animals. Many of my students spend indoor recess time exploring our classroom library to find new books to read. I am asking for sixteen new books including
Opossums, Red Foxes and Sabertooth Cats.
My students are eager for more engaging activities to help inspire their creativity during indoor recess time.
