This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We have the privilege of working with awesome middle school students at a Title 1 school in Arizona.

When the Arizona heat is too much, our students have to stay inside during their lunch time, which is one of the only breaks they have during the school day.

Some years, they can't go outside during lunch for the first two to three months of school.

This is understandably rough for our students. They have a lot of that good middle school energy that they need to use in productive ways, so we are hoping to gather games and other indoor activities that they can use to keep them from going stir crazy when it's too hot outside to shoot baskets or toss a football.

Our kids need breaks from their computer screens at lunch. They need to talk to each other and build relationships with each other while they are having fun. What better way to accomplish this than over a rousing game of Uno or Trouble?
