My primary (K-4) class of diverse learners are very hard workers. They have to be. I have high expectations for them and they learn in my classroom to have high expectations of themselves. They in turn then have high expectations of me. It's a full circle of each of us making one another better throughout the school year.
I strive to give my students the best experiences.
I teach resource special education where I pull my students out of their regular classroom to receive specialized services according to their needs and goals. I work closely with their general education classroom teachers, to make sure that they are getting what they need to succeed in their classrooms.
My students live in a large urban area. We are a Title I school with a 95% poverty rate. Funding is tighter than I've ever seen it in my twenty-four years as a classroom teacher. The school tries hard to provide the teachers with what they need, but it is very difficult to provide even the basics let alone the bigger items that we need to be successful.
My students need materials to help them grow academically and socially. File Folder activities help the students with individualized goals for all areas of their learning. Using these activities is motivating and individualized.
My students are motivated by things that are visually appealing and challenging.
These file folder activities will make sure that each student is working on what they need to be working on. File folder activities can be used for social activities and various academic activities. Everything from identifying common environmental signs to math, language arts and science activities. Being able to laminate these activities will help to make sure that the items last longer and they can be used over and over again.
