This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten class is made up of an incredible group of students that inspire and amaze me every day. I teach in a Title 1 school in a low-income, high-poverty school district. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. A large portion of our student population comes from low-income households which have been significantly impacted by the pandemic and subsequent school closures. These closures have increased the learning gap between low-income and affluent communities even more. Despite the challenges, my kids come to school eager and ready to learn. We are a STEM school where we integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through project-based learning activities for our students.

I would like to use the funds to help support my students at their individual learning levels.

My Project

The items in my cart will help me teach my students on the level that they are at. The sight word building set will help my students who still need to learn their sight words but also challenge my students who are ready to learn more. Similarly, the math magnetic tiles will help my students learn their basic numbers and counting while engaging my more advanced students in building number bonds. We will also be able to use the class packs of clipboards and whiteboards at the carpet during group instruction.
