I teach a group of eager third graders at an inspiring elementary school. My kids often start the year reading below the expected grade level. It is my mission to move them to work at grade level and beyond.
My kids internalize the high expectations that I set for them and push themselves to be the best readers and thinkers that they can be.
I am always amazed at the end of the year to see the growth and confidence in each of my kids.
My Project
In our class, all students participate in small groups on a daily basis. These groups allow me to provide individualized instruction to all of my kids. This is why I am asking for a CD listening center with a set of wireless headphones. A listening center would give my kids an additional method to obtain their end of the year reading goal. Students are already working with me at the back table, using a student-paced computer program, and reading at their independent and interest level. This listening center would allow more students to listen to a fluent reader while reading grade level appropriate text. We have a variety of books on CD available at school, but not a way to listen to them! Help me individualize instruction!!
