My Students

Our kindergarten and first grade students are precocious students who love learning about everything they can. They have many different interests including nature, robots, all sorts of animals, dinosaurs, countries, dance, art, sports, and learning about each other. Every subject that we introduce them to is met with enthusiasm. They want to learn everything they can about it.

With what is going on this year and the pandemic, we are facing the need to change the way in which our classroom runs more and more.

Because of this, communal supplies will become something that we cannot have in our classroom anymore. Since I've been teaching, students have brought their school supplies to school to be shared with everyone in a shared table caddy. However, with COVID-19 and the way we are all changing the way in which we live our lives, we are in need of changing this practice up. Each student will need their own set of supplies, but not every family can afford to send their children to school with those needed materials.

My Project

I am anticipating that we will no longer be able to share school supplies in our classroom when we return in the fall as we have in the past. Many of my families will not be able to send their students to school with the school supplies necessary to learn. This project will help to lift this burden and worry from my students and their families.

We will be able to provide each student with their own box in which they can hold their materials.

This will cut down on the spread of germs. It will also teach my students responsibility as they will need to make sure they take care of their materials, keeping track of them as they move from my classroom to my partner teacher's. The glitter glue will also be a fun way for students to decorate their supply boxes and make them their own! It will be a great way for us to share our talents on the first few days of school as we decorate our boxes and get to know one another. This project will be one that students benefit from every time they pick up a pencil or color a masterpiece.
