My Students

Every day, students from all over the district pour into the halls of my school. My students are ready to learn, but they need engaging projects and quality materials to work with. With the added pressures of COVID-19 and the challenges it has introduced to education, these students need help more than ever! Unfortunately, at this critical time in teaching, budgets have been slashed, forcing teachers to spend more out of pocket than ever.

Our school is an alternative high school for those students who are receiving a second chance at earning a diploma.

We also support young mothers, providing them with a daycare while they work on completing high school.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds, but they all have the same thing in common: somewhere in their lives, a major obstacle exists that has prevented them from achieving the level of success most high school students experience. They're rough around the edges, but they have good hearts and deserve the best.

My Project

So many of my students have limited to no access to the materials and technology that are essential to a well-rounded education. This education gap is only increasing as we continue to deal with the unprecedented learning obstacles that the pandemic has brought forth. Despite all of the new challenges, and maybe because of them, students need the consistency of school more than ever. We are in our 3rd year of "not normal" school and we continue to adapt to the evolving learning needs of students.

By providing each student with an individual supply kit, we will be able to maintain the strong Art program at my school, in addition to giving kids a creative outlet that positively affects their overall wellness.

While we are currently teaching most students in-person, we have, and probably will again, switch to online. These tool kits will be ready to take home for online learning as needed.
