My first graders are from northern central Michigan. Our community is predominantly tourists and retirees. Our population grows exponentially in the summer. Our school system offer free or reduced price breakfast and lunch program to 72% of our students. Our community is predominantly in the service industry or retired.
I have the most amazing class as they walk through the door ready to learn, completing challenges, taking chances and the excitement for their learning is exhilarating!
My students are very enthusiastic about coming to school everyday! Many days they don't want to leave and think I live in the classroom and want to stay with me.
Our classroom is very 21st century with many modes of technology to complete our learning throughout the day. They are becoming great readers, writers and mathematicians. We do a lot of station work where they rotate around the room to complete learning tasks. Students are at a variety of abilities and having the stations and technology help provide interventions for the struggling and opportunities for all students to be challenged.
My Project
These indestructible headphones will be used daily by students that listen to stories, reading programs, math learning games and so much more. Our current headphones will not plug into our iPads and some of our desktops which keeps some students from using the technology. Having the new listening devices will allow students to have their very own pair and will last longer than the current school year. Our school does not supply headphones any longer so these are really needed to continue our learning in first grade. Indestructible headphones will be a great addition to our growing technology devices for learning.
