Kindergarten is a big year for many students! Some have never experienced a school atmosphere. I want to make sure to leave a lasting impression on my students, making sure they have a love for school.
To help with that, I am looking to build my independent learning stations for them.
At this age, it is important to include lots of hands-on activities for them to engage with! Not only are students wanting hands-on learning, but also are working on building independence.
My Project
I have selected three sets of stations from Lakeshore Learning: Literacy, Phonemic Awareness, and Early Math. I will be using the first two sets throughout the year by incorporating them into our Reading Block Stations. The Early Math will be used as the students progress through the many levels of mathematical learning. All three of the sets go along with the standards of kindergarten but in a way where students don't even know they're learning! I will be using the As a first-year teacher, I lack the ability to supply students with a variety within their independent learning stations. Many of my stations are simple paper/pencil work. The manipulatives in these stations allow students the hands-on learning they crave. The sets also include easy to follow instructions that help to build the students' independence, which is so key at this age! With your help, I'm hoping to make my current and future students more successful.
