My Students

This is a special education program to help students with moderate and severe disabilities work on life and vocational skills. Petaluma City Schools has started a new transition program for our adults ages 18-22 years old. We help to support living, working, and community skills.

We try to make our learning environment relevant to what they would experience living on their own.

Students normally would be learning at job sites and we would be out in the community taking the bus to learning experiences like the bank, laundry mat, grocery shopping and plan fun social activities.

My Project

We are in need of supplies since we are in distance learning instead of a community based program at this time. Our students need resources to help them learn through the computer and at home on topics such as budgeting, banking, living on your own, using money,

These materials will help us to make lessons based on student needs and levels.

They will learn topics that will help them to understand basics of independence. We will be able to create lessons thru distance learning on topics that adults see in life and vocational skills. We would utilize the games for hands on experiences and practicing with money topics like banking, ATM use, counting money, and budgeting. Lastly the gift card for teacherspayteachers will help us immensely with virtual material like virtual field trips in the community, next dollar up lessons, community signs, etc. These materials will also be useful after we go back to in person learning and will be utilized for years to come.
