This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are alternative high school students working very hard to earn their credits, graduate, and pursue higher education. They come from very diverse backgrounds and have unique insights into the challenges facing society today. Many of my students will be the first to attend college in their family, many will the first to graduate from high school in their family, and many are English language learners.
My students have big dreams and need to continue to build the literacy skills that will enable them to reach their goals.
My Project
Our attention is being pulled in a variety of directions. My students need access to books that will be engaging in a world of social media distractions.
Literacy gives people independence to make choices, to advocate for themselves and to learn about their community and world.
A classroom library will bring stories to my students that will teach them about all that they are capable of achieving. They will learn and grow. My students love to learn. They are eager and inquisitive. As their teacher, I have compiled a classroom library that will engage and inspire my students.
