Independent Readers Through Novels Exploring Cultural Past Of The USA
Help me give my students novels in their hands and history to discover.

My Students
My students are on that maturity line of transitioning to independent reading and thinking. They really missed the first steps of being independent during Covid - 19 and so they are just beginning to be ready to conquer chapter books.
Traditionally, my two groups share our novels when we read; however, we are trying to keep them from sharing materials during the day.
My Project
Due to the pandemic, I'm needing to increase my number of book copies so that they are not shared with others throughout the day. These books are needed to expand their vocabulary through context and experience different ways of creating and expressing a story when they read novels. Many students this age are just beginning to tackle novels and they need the encouragement that comes from whole class participation.
The Social Studies material will allow students to gain the respect for the cultural history of Native Americans and understand the movement of tribes over time.
I included a new pencil sharpener for students that they can use without touching anything except their own pencil.
