My students need literacy centers, a classroom timer and sentence strips.

My Students
My students attend a public elementary school in Illinois where 100% of our students come from low income households. All my students are excited about learning, from the moment they walk in the door, until the moment they put their homework in their backpack in the afternoon. We take advantage of many different learning styles throughout the day to keep all students engaged.
My class of 25 students has a broad range in learning level and preferences, so students are always working at their own individual level.
My Project
My students reading levels range from below A to N. With this broad range of abilities, students always need to have work available to them that they can feel confident doing independently, and that is helpful for their learning level.
In second grade, we really have to strive to bring these lower level readers up to grade level.
These literacy centers will help these students gain confidence and boost them up toward being on level.
The classroom timer is very helpful to keep the class on track throughout the day. We move around a lot, and switch activities often throughout the day. The timer is the signal so students know it's time to switch and keep it moving.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
