Indendepent Reading Organization

My students need individual book bins to organize their independent reading selections. I also need bins to organize my new classroom library.

My Students

I currently teach 26 students with a variety of strengths and weaknesses. I have students with a variety of special needs; ranging from learning disabilities to hearing impairments to attention difficulties. My kids love to read and many have limited exposure to high-quality literature at home. Our district is moving to a new balanced literacy framework and my classroom is in need of Reader's and Writer's Workshop materials. My kiddos are bright and eager to learn! They deserve the very best to be their very best!

My Project

Choice is powerful! By allowing students to choose the books they want to read, they will enjoy themselves, find more success, and become lovers of reading. Each day, a selection of students are permitted to shop in my classroom library. They can choose as many books as they want for the week ahead. These individual book bins will give them their own personal storage. The classroom library bins will allow me to organize my books in a way that will promote interest. I can organize my books by author, genre, or series. In conclusion, the items I am requesting would directly impact my students and promote independent reading.
