My students are passionate about learning! They love to come to school and they love to learn new things. Some of my students come from single-parent homes, high poverty environments, or homes that speak two or three languages. Some of my students come to me with high behavioral and attention needs.
Since some of my students don't have the best home environment, I try to make our classroom a safe and loving place to learn.
When we enter our classroom we are a family who tries our best to take care of one another by showing each other love, pushing each other to do better, and catching each other when we fall.
Vocabulary is one of the key factors in learning how to read and later reading to learn! Students who have a low vocabulary tool box take much longer to learn how to read and routinely struggle with comprehending the text they are reading. Some of the third graders I teach, including English Language Learners, struggle with reading primarily due to a smaller vocabulary than their peers.
Flocabulary is an educational online website that helps students increase their vocabulary through songs!
Most people love music and the same goes for my students. They love to sing and dance. Flocabulary allows students to hear vocabulary related to reading, science, math, writing, and social studies! If I can combine their love for music with the vocabulary they need to know to be successful there is no way my students will not make significant progress this year!
