Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our little school of about 230 students has made great gains academically over the past years with the small budget we receive. We are often overlooked because we are so tiny. Our school's budget covers basic supplies and not much else.
We are an example of a working community of students, faculty, parents, and staff all working together for student academic success.
Our hope is that many of our students will continue to maximize learning and go to college with the needed tools to succeed in life.
My Project
I am requesting two iPads to allow my students the opportunity to work on apps that will enhance their education. In third grader, students are expected to research for projects and technology plays a big role with our common core standards. Our mandated state testing is all done using a technology device, therefore, technology is a tool needed in their daily learning experience in order to better prepare them for higher learning. My students need these iPads for: digital portfolios, vocabulary, story elements, math skills, research and critical projects, book reading (Epic Books for Kids), and testing among other things.
The iPads will be extremely helpful to have in our classroom.
Students will be using the iPads to create a digital portfolio in the Seesaw app to share their classwork with the teacher, their parents, and classmates in real time. They will receive feedback on their work from their teacher, parents, classmates, and principal. Online reading and assessments will increase their reading level, all students will be able to access and explore many amazing websites that will help their education.
The iPads will provide multi-level activities to strengthen specific skills and strategies of individual students.
