My class of six and seven year-olds come to school to have a safe and inviting environment where they know they will be loved. Because of the students' socioeconomic status, they don't always have the opportunity to use engaging tools that increases their motivation to learn. We are a Title I school. I want to bring technology with driven and engaging ways to learn in the classroom to make learning fun and exciting each and every day.
I want my students to learn in an environment that they feel most comfortable.
My goal of teaching is to find tools and ways to increase that love of learning and for my students to become lifelong learners.
My Project
I need 4 Kindle Fire tablets with cases for my students to use along with Seesaw Digital Portfolio. Seesaw is a digital portfolio where students are able to create and share classroom work with their family. I have been using Seesaw for three years now and love the accountability students have for their own learning. Seesaw has also been a great way to keep parents informed about student progress, as parents are notified every time their child posts something to their learning journal. Currently I do not have enough Kindle tablets to allow for one to one for student use.
I feel that having enough Kindles for each student to have their own device will increase the benefits of using Seesaw.
When using Seesaw, students get a Kindle tablet and complete a task. Seesaw tasks are a way for students to explain their learning or to be assessed in an independent and paperless way. Seesaw tasks have an emphasis on math and literacy and are also used to allow students to give oral explanations of the STEM tasks. Having enough Kindles will increase time management in our classroom which will increase the impact instruction is having on students.
