My Project
According to our Student Well-being Survey, students indicated that they often have low motivation to attend school due to interpersonal problems. Students have community meeting every morning. During this time, students engage in SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) lessons to improve mental and emotional well being. We will use the requested items to engage students during SEL lessons. I am requesting supplies that will be used to help my students learn ways to express their feelings in a positive way. The inspirational journals will promote self love and positive affirmations. I plan to use these journals to encourage students to express themselves by writing and/or drawing their feelings.
All donated supplies will be essential in decreasing the stigma of mental health and promote positive coping skills in students.
The bean bag chair will be used for students to self regulate. This chair will be in a designated space that will be called "the calming corner"
The books will be used by staff members to learn ways to help support children regulate their emotions. The goal of the school is to create a climate where students feel safe expressing themselves to their peers and school staff.
