My students need a projector and the books: Lessons and Activities for Building Powerful Numeracy and Number Talks: Helping Children Build Mental Math and Computation Strategies.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Seow's classroom raised $542
This project is fully funded
My Students
Discovering that many children are lacking in numeracy skills in math, I am driven to increase that skill and the way that I know how is through the use of technology in the classroom. My students are growing to love math and they definitely love to learn with the use of technology.
My school is located in a lower income area of Harlem.
Due to lack of funding, we lack many resources such as technology and the other resources needed to increase certain skills, such as math numeracy skills. Many of my students are ready to learn, but lack a lot of basic resources that are needed to capture their interests and tap into their learning styles.
My Project
Due to the lack of numeracy skills in math, I will use the Lessons and Activities in the Numeracy teacher guide to create lessons to increase this skill. I will use the Number Talks resource to increase my students' math vocabulary and their use of accountable talk within the math classroom. With these lessons, activities, and discussions from the teacher resources, I can then create captivating lessons using the technology from the projector, which I would make interactive for my students. Being able to address all of my students learning styles would be wonderful.
Donations to my project will help to increase my students' math skills as well as Reading and Writing skills.
I will be able to have more creative lessons and keep all my students engaged.
