My Students

I work with students who have experienced complex developmental trauma that has resulted in an emotional disturbance (severe behavior). My students were not successful in a traditional classroom setting, so they are part of a pilot alternative program.

My students experience extreme sensory dysregulation.

When a child can not organize their thoughts, or actions, they rely on organization of their environment.

Often, it only takes a bit of rhythmic movement to shift attention and affect toward stronger cognitively-mediated decision making and task engagement.

My Project

The students on my classroom come from diverse backgrounds. 100% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. They do not have technology at home and are at a disadvantage in the classroom as schools move to web based instruction. Our classroom uses a PBIS model to encourage positive behavior. My students would like to be able to earn iPad time as a reward for good behavior and effort in the general education classroom. They need direct instruction on the use of technology and introduction to how iPads can be used in appropriate ways, including which games are age appropriate, and internet safety.
