My Project
With a double sided magnetic rolling whiteboard, dry erase paper and boards, magnetic number lines and an activity table, I can demonstrate concepts using visual aids and create magnetic manipulatives to support the skills practiced while students learn comfortably in a group setting. These materials will help to teach our students while catering to individual learning styles. Across the subjects, we always review academic vocabulary, and practice what we have learned, a typically problem-free task. However, without the proper materials in the classroom, it is difficult to provide students with constant access to hands on engaging materials and activities, (outside of technology use), that will help them grasp concepts, and stay engaged. Items like playdough and magnetic tiles are dual purposeful as they can serve both as learning manipulatives, as well a reward during "breaks" for students completing a task, classwork and behavior management.
Being able to teach our students based on their individual educational style and abilities will help us to keep our students engaged and excited about learning while encouraging working and learning with their peers in the classroom.
